Second fully-staffed Amazon pickup location in Texas to open in Lubbock

Amazon will be opening a fully-staffed pickup location near the Texas Tech University campus this fall, giving students and the Lubbock community a convenient place to pick up and return Amazon orders.

In a press release last week, Amazon announced that Amazon@Lubbock will occupy a 2,700-square-foot space at 2407 9th Street, also known as Fearless Plaza. This property formerly housed Leonard’s grocery store but is now home to Cowboy Chicken and Endzone Liquor.

“We are thrilled to bring an Amazon pickup location to the Texas Tech and greater Lubbock community,” said Ripley MacDonald, Director of Amazon Student Programs, in the release. “Whether students are ordering textbooks, electronics or snacks, Amazon will provide a convenient and secure spot for them to pick up their stuff at hours that work with their schedules.”

Once Amazon@Lubbock opens, Amazon Prime members will be able to take advantage of free one-day pickup on millions of Amazon items. Students interested in the free one-day pickup option can sign up for a free six-month trial of Amazon Prime.

Since 2015, Amazon has opened similar staffed pickup locations at six universities and three college communities across the U.S., with additional locations coming soon. Once it opens this fall, Amazon@Lubbock will be only the second staffed pickup location in Texas.

Update: Amazon@Lubbock will be opening Wednesday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m.
